Pinzellada Negre “GN”

Pinzellada means “Brush Stroke” in Catalan, and each release is a unique blend which paints a picture of the year. The 2018 “GN” is 100% Grenache with 21 months in oak is drinking well with bags of fine fruit, fudge and vanilla oak and some interesting complexity.

Grenache (100%)

The Grenache (Garnatxa Negra – “gn”) is from 30+ year old vines at Mas de Cabrera. The calcareous soil is very poor in organic matter, and the heat of 2018 resulted in a low yield of very concentrated fruit.

The grapes were hand picked before undergoing a 5 day cold soak. Fermentation followed at up to 26°C in stainless steel, with regular punchdowns. Malolactic fermentation and 21 months maturation was carried out in a mixture of old and new 300 litre French oak barrels. This wine is bottled unfiltered.
